Frippery Friday: Lippy Love

Welcome to FRIPPERY FRIDAY.

(frip·per·y
ˈfrip(ə)rē/
noun
  1. showy or unnecessary ornament in architecture, dress, or language.)

On Fridays, we shall be featuring a "showy or unnecessary ornament" that we are especially loving.
However, this week's frippery is oh-so-necessary, in mine and Robyn's opinion: lip products. If there's one thing that makes me feel put together, it's a nice lookin' lip. It's the cherry on top.
Let's indulge in some Lippy Love, shall we?
Here's what I've been loving lately:

WHAT: Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm (I'm wearing Shameless, and the pink one I'm holding is Elusive)
DEETS: I’m tellin’ you, these matte balms are thee BEST inexpensive option for bold lip color. The colors are really rich and saturated since they are matte, which I love. With a good primer they last a long time, and HELLO, the pencil shape is A) fabulous because you can channel your inner child because they’re basically like coloring crayons for your lips and B) perfect for quick no-mirror-required touch-ups. I can’t recommend these highly enough.
WHERE: I recommend Target for these because usually all of the wrappers aren’t torn off like they are at Walmart and Ulta.
COST: $6.

WHAT: Bite Line and Define Lip Primer
DEETS: A fun fact about me: I am a sucker for anything cheap. I am TRYING to teach myself that I need to just splurge once and a while and I will be much happier in the long run. Classic example here. I went for a lip primer at Sephora that was $10 less expensive than this one and was against the Sephora lady’s recommendation (bad Mallory) and ended up returning it and getting this one instead like I should have in the first place. This primer kills it. It’s thick and smooth without being sticky or clumpy or oily and your lips REALLY feel like there’s a protective layer on them. It adds just the tiniest matte whitish color to your lips which is grand because any color you put over it will be brighter. It’s slightly MINTY which I rejoice over and all the ingredients are super nourishing (jojoba oil, argan oil...). There is nothing worse than a lipstick that makes your lips all crusty crust and feathered to heck within two hours. This stuff will be your SAVIOR! Just Bite (pun intended) the bullet and get this stuff for use under allllll your lip faves.
WHERE: Sephora
COST: $22

WHAT: Buxom Full-On Lip Cream (This color is Purple Haze)
DEETS: Okay guys. Confession. I really do not like lip gloss. It’s sticky, it’s sheer, it’s way too shiny, it isn’t saturated with color or bold like I like it, etc, etc. I am a bold, matte girl all the way. HOWEVER. This Buxom goodness has totally won me over. It feels AMAAAZING because it has a plumping effect, which means your lips will be in tingly lip heaven. The very first time I tried it on I was obsessed. It doesn’t have any shimmer to it so it isn’t extremely shiny; it’s the most perfect simple glassy gloss. Robyn is also a huuuge fan of this stuff! I haven’t tried many colors yet, but I love Purple Haze.
WHERE: Sephora
COST: $19

WHAT: Natural Ice Chapstick
DEETS: You know how in your life you feel like you are a real connoisseur on maybe 6-7 things? Yeah. chapstick is one of those things for me. If I were on a desert island and could only have five things, chapstick would be one of them. I’m so pathetically dependent on it. Me and chapstick...we’ve been around the block a time or two. I’ve tried about every kind under the sun. I promise you can take this chapstick connoisseur’s word for it when I say Natural Ice is the real MVP. It’s got menthol so it’s minty and feels glorious on. It has just a tiny bit of sunscreen in it too AND it’s healing. It is just the best, even better than Burt’s Bees. I recently went to Walmart and bought eight of them. So there’s that.
WHERE: Walmart is the best most convenient place to get it because of the cost:
COST: $0.88. YES, EIGHTY-EIGHT CENTS!! Buy eight like I did!! GO!

WHAT: Bite Luminous Creme Lipstick (The small size tube I'm holding is the $12 Lip Creme Duo. I'm wearing Palomino, which is one side of the duo)
DEETS: I know, I know, ANOTHER Bite product….I can’t help it. This lipstick is the best that I've tried. Paired with the Bite lip primer it seriously lasts all day without a smudge or fade. I could even do without a touchup after eating!! True story. And, it is one of the only lipsticks I’ve tried that doesn’t make my lips feel like sandpaper by the end of the day after I take it off. Beautiful, rich, vibrant colors too - see how bright it is on?? Ohhh man this stuff rocks.
WHERE: Sephora. They also have a duo that you can get at Sephora for just $12 for two colors!! COST: $24

Have a lippy product you absolutely LOVE? Please share!! We would love to try out your excellent suggestions!

Have a spectacular Friday and don't forget your lippy this weekend when you're out on the town....
Love, Mallory
